Adjuvantix was founded in 1999 and is based upon the long-term research of the Company's scientific founder, Dr Andrew Heath, Reader of the infection and immunity Group at the University of Sheffield.
Adjuvantix is an adjuvant research and development company that will use its proprietary adjuvants to co-develop a range of improved prophylactic and therapeutic vaccines with exsiting and emerging vaccine companies.
Initial research on the adjuvant and immunosuppressive technology was conducted at the University of Sheffield and was partly funded by project grants from the Wellcome Trust.
The company has received start-up funds from the White Rose Technology Seedcorn Fund (WRTSF). Using this money Adjuvantix has developed proof of principle on its technology, filed and executed an extensive patent portfolio and extended its work on the development of its proprietary adjuvant systems to influenza vaccines. Adjuvantix is now focussed on the development of therapeutic vaccines for tuberculosis and small cell lung cancer.
Adjuvantix is now seeking collaborations with major vaccine companies to commercialise its technology in a number of other targets.
