Objective 1 status

South Yorkshire currently qualifies for European Union Objective 1 status,
allowing access to substantial European Regional Development Funding and UK
Government grants. The majority of the region enjoys development status,
qualifying for maximum grant assistance and incentives under Government
schemes to stimulate investment. To this end, South Yorkshire is currently
enjoying an unprecedented period of regeneration and growth.

Renaissance South Yorkshire

Renaissance South Yorkshire is a new organization created by Yorkshire Forward, the Objective 1 Programme for South Yorkshire and the Local Authorities from Rotherham, Barnsley, Doncaster and Sheffield.

Renaissance South Yorkshire is strongly committed to working with Bioscience Yorkshire, the regional bioscience cluster, to support and build the Bioscience Cluster in the region; assisting companies to take advantage of the benefits of locating their activities here.

Renaissance South Yorkshire will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of projects in a number of areas, such as developing key property sites within the Strategic Economic Zones of the M1, M18 and Dearne Valley. Renaissance South Yorkshire will attract and manage inward investment for South Yorkshire, develop the urban centres of South Yorkshire and regenerate former coalfield sites. It will also stimulate the growth of priority business cluster.
