BLSY - Business Link South Yorkshire. BLSY delivers a range of services to local companies that will help them to improve their competitiveness. Their services are impartial, and are either free or charged at affordable rates.

BEP - Biotechnology Exploitation Platform. These are consortiums funded by the Department of Trade and Industry’s Biotechnology Directorate under the Biotechnology Exploitation Platform Challenge. Their aim is to create new opportunities for the exploitation of intellectual property arising from publicly funded bioscience research in the UK through the capture and protection of IP, and the creation of new and viable IP portfolios.

There are two BEP consortiums active in the Yorkshire and Humber region, the White Rose BEP and Yorkshire BioEnterprise BEP.

Objective 1 - Objective 1 is one of three programmes set up by the European Union to provide investment funds to those areas of the EU where prosperity, measured in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per head, is 75% or less of the European average. South Yorkshire has qualified for Objective 1 aid for the period from 2000-2006.

White Rose Consortium - The White Rose Consortium is committed to maximising the commercial potential of the Life Sciences resource in the Universities of Leeds, York and Sheffield. The White Rose Biotechnology Consortium was funded by a £250,000 grant from the Department of Trade and Industry Biotechnology Directorate under the Biotechnology Exploitation Platform (BEP) Challenge.

Yorkshire Forward - Yorkshire Forward is the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Development Agency. It was created in April 1999 from five organisations - Yorkshire and Humberside Development Agency, Regional activities of English Partnerships, Regional Supply Network, Regional activities of Government Office for Yorkshire and Humber and the Rural Development Commission - with the mission of revitalising the region's economy.
