Invest in Skills

What is it?
Invest in Skills is a programme to help companies increase business performance by enhancing the skills of their management and employees. It offers subsidies towards the direct cost of training and can provide free help to identify the training you need and obtain it at the right quality and price.

A range of training is covered including management development, supervisory, technical and ICT skills. However, there are some exceptions, such as training that companies are legally required to provide or training for purely personal, rather than business benefit.

Invest in Skills is supported by the European Objective One programme and Single Regeneration Budget and has been launched by the Learning and Skills Council South Yorkshire.

Who can apply?
Due to rules governing the funding used to provide this support, not all companies in South Yorkshire are eligible. The broker organisations listed below will explain the rules.

The scheme is primarily aimed at SMEs - however, it has recently been confirmed by the funders of the scheme that a limited number of non-SMEs can also get a subsidy. Therefore, university spin-out companies and large companies in the bioscience sector can also apply for this grant.

How much does the company pay?
A subsidy of up to 40% of the direct training cost is available.

When can you apply?
Application are now being accepted.
