Plasso signs collaboration agreement with Carclo Technical Plastics
Surface Critical Technology
Carclo Technical Plastics, a Division of Carclo plc, and Plasso Technology Ltd. have entered into a collaboration to jointly develop the market for advanced plastic medical devices combined with active surface coatings.
The two companies will service the growing demand for sophisticated components within the diagnostic, sensor, pharmaceutical and medical device sectors.
Commenting, Martin Day - Sales & Marketing Director of Carclo Technical Plastics - stated that the rapid development of, for example, point-of-care diagnostic devices that allow GPs to obtain diagnoses at the bed-side, require a new approach to design and materials. "We’re seeing a demand for sophisticated, often miniaturised components that can manage the flow of fluids and molecules from one part of the device to another and then immobilise the sample compound to allow the diagnostic test to take place. This is where Plasso’s surface technology plays a key role in the optimisation of the flow of liquids in these devices and the binding of molecules to surfaces to improve detection."
